Heating tools such as flat irons, curling irons, heating rollers, hand blow dryers, relaxers, perms, and dye jobs are all harmful to the hair. They all have properties that strip the hair of its natural oils and breakdown  hair cuticles. When you decide to eliminate or reduce the use of heating tools and chemicals, you will notice a drastic change in the thickness, health, and feel of your hair. Your hair will thank you for the change. For some it may not be easy to eliminate all together if your used to the flat ironing everyday, relaxing every month, or coloring every month.  Consider flat ironing every two weeks and finding alternative ways to preserve your straight style. Instead of relaxing every month, try to stretch your relaxers to a month and a half to two months. When coloring your hair, don’t recolor your whole head of hair, just the roots. Instead of blow drying your hair as a way to dry your hair, think about hair drying your hair instead.  Doing these things will reduce your reliance on hair chemicals and tools, which in turn will help you to produce healthier hair in a shorter amount of time.
