Choosing a conditioner that is right for you depends on a number of key factors such as your hair’s moisture level and your scalp. If your hair is always dry or takes in moisture easily, you would want to make sure you are using a conditioner that focuses manly on moisture and moisturizing dry hair. If your hair lacks elasticity and breaks off easily, you would want to focus on protein centered conditioners. If you recently dyed your hair and the color is fading and your hair is breaking from dryness, then you would want to focus your efforts in finding in a conditioner that specializes in maintaining color while moisturizing the hair. If your looking for a light conditioner that isn’t a deep conditioner, then you may want to focus on just rinses. The essential role of a conditioner is to provide whatever the hair is lacking externally such as moisture, protein, strength and shine.
In choosing a conditioner, you want to be extremely careful as to what it contains in the ingredients. The more natural the ingredients the better. Beware of conditioners that contain cones and alcohol as these ingredients are not good for your hair and can essentially dry out your hair. Cones such as “dimethicone” causes hair to break and split easily if they are not washed out properly. If you use conditioners with ”cones,” be sure to occasionally wash your hair with a clarifying shampoo to remove any residue.
