In order to protect your hair from damage cause by hair blow drying, try taking on the possibility of air drying your hair. Drying your hair naturally saves your hair from dryness and breakage. The challenge that comes along with air drying your hair is coming up with an acceptable style. Some styles you can play with are braid outs which is braiding the air when wet and unbraiding when hair is 80% dry to completely dry to get a wavy like look. Another hair style would be curls by simply putting your wet hair in a bun and letting it dry. When you take out the bun your hair will have created waves towards the ends of your hair.
When considering how long it will take for you hair to air dry, it will naturally depend on the length of your hair and the thickness of the individual strands. Hair that is damaged and porous, typically take longer to dry and hair that is fine or straight have a shorter drying time. Other factors that play into how long it will take to air dry your hair are in the conditioners and shampoos you use, whether your final rinse is with warm or cool water, and whether your water is soft or hard.
When air drying your hair, apply a small amount of leave in conditioner to the hair. Do not add any other products as too many products will weight down your hair and ultimately make your hair hard and brittle which can also cause breakage. The less product you add to your hair the better. In this case, less is definitely more.
