Problem: Thinning Hair Women
Shedding is a normal part of the hair cycle. It is natural to shed about 100 strands a day. When this happens, new hair begins to grow in its place. But with time, as women grow older, either new hair growth stops or hair starts to thin out. This is what is called female pattern baldness.
There are several reasons for thin hair such as:
- Age
-Childbirth
-Certain Medications
-Poor Diet
-Surgery
There are several ways to prevent thinning hair on women.
- Make sure you incorporate a lot of iron in your diet, since iron helps hair grow. You can find iron in foods such as fish and poultry.
- Take in good amount protein. Since hair is made of protein, it is important to add protein to your diet. You can find protein in food such as meats and cheese.
- Reducing the amount of stress put on the hair is a great way to prevent thinning. Tight braids, ponytails, buns and cornrolls add stress to the scalp and causing scarring, which in the end will not allow hair to grow there anymore
- Reducing chemical treatments would also help in preventing hair from thinning.
When it comes to treatments in hair thinning, it will either correct itself or you may have to see medical attention.
- If hair thinning is due to pregnancy, illness, surgery, or improper diet, your hair will normally correct itself after a few months or after a proper diet has been restored.
- If hair thinning is caused by thyroid, hormonal imbalance medical treatment would be needed to correct the problem
- If medication is causing hair thinning, it is only when you stop medication, that you will see a difference in your hair
